Philosophy

philosophy

The association Vida Nueva sees itself as a multi-cultural project, favoring cultural exchange between people of all kinds of origin. One of the important elements of this objective is devoloping the presence of foreign volunteers and involvong them in the preventative work with the children and families of the different neighborhoods. Values such as tolerance, intercultural learning, self-initiative and creativity are elemental for the realization of the different assignments.

Vida Nueva is conscious of the problem of loss of culture often seen in the local population during development projects. Vida Nueva tries to interfere as little as possible in the traditional local dynamics.

We think that a sustainable social program can only be realized in accordance with the existing culture and with active dialogue with the local population. The association received the Eduard-Ploier in Austria in 1999 for its innovative methods.

objectives

The main objective of the Association is to act against social and economic separation of groups of people in San Isidro el General, especially concentrating on children and youth that have been victims of abandonment, violence and inter-familiar abuse.
To accomplish this, the association works on several projects, such as preventative work with children and women in a socially vulnerable condition and various support projects for children and youth in peripheral neighborhoods. In the center of San Isidro, Vida Nueva runs a project for street people, and on a farm outside of San Isidro there is a rehabilitation program for drug addicted people.

The Association is also working on spreading and sharing information about the rights of children, youth and of women.
